Bunny lines.
Do I have to treat the frown lines too?
Not necessarily. The combination often makes sense because expression otherwise shifts – this is discussed at the examination.
Will it change my smile?
Not with correct placement. The aim is to reach only the nasalis muscle; the dose is deliberately small.
How long does it last?
Usually three to four months, similar to other expression lines.
What does it cost as an additional area?
If the nose is treated together with other areas, the additional-area guide price from €30 applies. Invoicing per GOÄ. Full page: Bunny lines
Chin (Botox).
Botox or hyaluronic acid for the chin?
For a restless muscle and crease: botulinum toxin. For lacking projection or a receding chin: hyaluronic acid. Often both – the examination shows what matters most.
Does the chin get longer?
Visually often slightly, because the muscle no longer pulls the chin upwards. Real lengthening is only achieved with volume.
Will it affect my speech?
Not with correct, low dosing. Temporary effects on lip closure are rare and reversible. Full page: Chin (Botox)
Crow's feet.
Will my smile look different?
The aim is to soften the lines while preserving your smile, which is why the dose here is deliberately restrained.
Are bruises around the eye common?
The skin is thin and well supplied with blood, so small bruises happen and settle within a few days.
Is there another way to treat crow's feet?
For fine lines at rest, skin-quality treatments such as skin boosters can make sense – often in combination.
How soon can I go out again?
Usually straight away. Avoid sport, sauna and swimming pools for 3–4 days. Full page: Crow's feet
Botox forehead.
Will my forehead look unnatural?
Not if the dose matches your muscle. The aim is softer movement, not complete stillness.
Why treat the frown lines as well?
The forehead muscle and the frown muscles work against each other. Treating only the forehead can make the gaze look sterner. What makes sense is decided in the consultation.
When will I see the result?
The effect begins after a few days and is complete after about two weeks. Full page: Botox forehead
Frown lines.
Will the line disappear completely?
Movement-related lines often largely do. Deeply etched lines at rest become shallower but do not always disappear entirely.
Can I still move my eyebrows?
Yes. The treatment targets the muscle group that pulls the brows together – lifting is preserved.
How many zones do I need?
That depends on the findings. Frown lines and forehead are often assessed together. Prices are staged by zone, from €190 for one zone.
Does it hurt?
The injections use very fine needles and take a few minutes; usually it is just a brief pinch. Full page: Frown lines
Masseter Botox.
Can I chew normally afterwards?
Yes. The aim is to reduce excessive force, not to switch the muscle off. Very firm food can feel unusual during the first weeks.
How long does the effect last?
Typically about 3–6 months, depending on dose and metabolism. The treatment can then be repeated.
Will it help my headaches?
Many people report less morning jaw tension. Whether and how much your complaints change is individual and cannot be promised. Headaches have many possible causes and should be assessed medically.
Do I still need a night guard?
That is for your dentist to judge. The injection does not replace dental treatment; it can complement it.
Does insurance pay?
As a rule this is a self-paid service. With a medical indication, coverage may be possible in individual cases – clarify this with your insurer in advance. Full page: Masseter Botox
Migraine.
Does insurance cover the cost?
With a confirmed diagnosis of chronic migraine and the criteria met, reimbursement may be possible. VIVA DERM is a private practice and invoices per GOÄ; please clarify reimbursement with your insurer beforehand.
Does Botox also help with tension headache or occasional migraine?
There is no licence for that and the evidence is insufficient. The treatment is limited to chronic migraine.
How quickly does it work?
An effect often shows within the first weeks; it can be reliably assessed after the second cycle, i.e. after about six months.
Can I keep taking my other migraine medication?
Usually yes; this is discussed individually and in coordination with your neurological care. Full page: Migraine
Neck & platysma.
What is a 'Nefertiti lift'?
A colloquial name for botulinum toxin treatment of the platysma along the jawline. It is not a lift but a reduction of the muscle's downward pull.
Does it help with a double chin?
No. Fat under the chin is more likely treated with injection lipolysis. Whether muscle, fat or skin is the main factor is shown by the examination.
Does it affect swallowing?
Not with correct, conservative dosing. Temporary problems are rare and resolve as the substance is broken down. Full page: Neck & platysma
Baby Botox or classic?
Is Baby Botox cheaper?
Usually not; the effort per zone is the same or higher because more points are placed. But it lasts less long, so yearly costs are similar or higher.
Can I start with Baby Botox and increase later?
Yes, that is a good way: at the check-up after two weeks the dose can be topped up until the result fits. Full page: Baby Botox or classic?
Jawline: HA or Botox?
My face is wide but the line is soft – what first?
Usually the masseter first, because the face changes over three months; then it can be judged whether hyaluronic acid at the chin line is still needed.
Does the chewing muscle get weaker?
Temporarily the force is reduced; everyday chewing stays unproblematic. After the effect ends, full force returns. Full page: Jawline: HA or Botox?
Laugh lines.
Will my smile change?
Not with the right dose – the eyes smile along. With too much it can look rigid; hence start small.
What does treating crow's feet cost?
As one zone from €190; combined with frown line and forehead from €360. Full page: Laugh lines
Looking stern.
Can people see I had Botox?
Not with the right dose. All they see is that you look more relaxed. The brows stay mobile.
Can the line disappear completely?
Dynamically yes; a deeply engraved line flattens over several treatments and can be cushioned with hyaluronic acid. Full page: Looking stern
Cost of Botox.
What is a 'zone'?
A connected muscle area: frown lines, forehead or crow's feet (both sides) each count as one zone.
Does topping up at the check-up cost extra?
A small fine correction after two weeks is included in the price at VIVA DERM; an additional zone is charged. Full page: Cost of Botox
Cost of hyperhidrosis.
Does health insurance cover the treatment?
With severe hyperhidrosis and unsuccessful prior treatment, botulinum toxin can be an insured service at statutory dermatology practices. VIVA DERM is a private practice and bills under the GOÄ.
What does treating the hands cost?
More than the armpits, because more units are needed and a nerve block is added. The amount is stated after examination. Full page: Cost of hyperhidrosis
Cost of masseter.
Does insurance pay for masseter Botox?
Generally not; the treatment is off-label and self-pay. The bite splint, by contrast, is covered by insurers.
Does it get cheaper over time?
Not per treatment, but the gaps often get longer – so yearly costs fall. Full page: Cost of masseter
Botox: from what age?
Is 25 too early to start?
If no line is visible at rest, usually yes. If a strong frown line stays when concentrating, a low dose can be justifiable. This is discussed honestly.
Does the skin become dependent?
No. There is no physical dependence. If you stop, facial movement returns and the lines look as they would without treatment – not worse.
Is it still worth it at 65?
For expression lines, yes. Often a combination with volume or skin-quality treatments then makes more sense than botulinum toxin alone.
Are minors treated?
How long does Botox last?
Why does it last less time for me than for others?
Muscle strength, metabolism, dose and movement habits differ. The first treatment also often lasts a little less than later ones. This is discussed at the check-up.
Can the effect be extended?
Not deliberately. Regular treatments at sensible intervals, no exaggerated facial movement right afterwards and the right dose are what can be influenced.
What happens if I don't repeat it?
Muscle activity returns completely; the lines then look as they did before. There is no 'rebound' that would be worse than the starting point.
When is the check-up?
About two weeks after the treatment, once the full effect has developed. Full page: How long does Botox last?
Botox myths.
Can you see Botox?
Not with the right dose. You look rested, not 'done'.
May a beauty salon inject Botox?
No. Botulinum toxin is prescription-only and in Germany may be used only by physicians. Full page: Botox myths
Botox or filler.
Can both be done at once?
That is possible and common in practice when findings and dosage make it sensible. It is decided after the examination.
Which is cheaper?
Botox starts at €190 for one zone, hyaluronic acid at €190 for 0.5 ml in the lips. The actual price depends on the effort involved and is discussed beforehand.
Which is safer?
Both have their own risk profiles. Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine and may only be used by a physician; with fillers, anatomical knowledge is decisive. Risks are explained before every treatment.
Which lasts longer?
Usually hyaluronic acid – 6 to 18 months depending on the area, against 3 to 6 months for botulinum toxin. Full page: Botox or filler
Sweating at work.
Does sweat build up if the armpits no longer sweat?
No. The armpits make up only about two percent of sweat glands; the body regulates temperature via the rest of the skin.
Can I have hands and armpits treated in one session?
Possible, but the hands are much more painful and need more units. Usually one starts with the armpits. Full page: Sweating at work
Splint or Botox?
Can I eat normally after masseter treatment?
Yes. The force for everyday eating remains; very tough meat or hard nuts can be more tiring in the first weeks.
Will my face change?
With pronounced chewing muscles the lower jaw becomes narrower over months. With a narrow face the dose is restrained so that this does not happen. Full page: Splint or Botox?
Hyperhidrosis.
Will I sweat more elsewhere?
The treatment acts locally in the injected area. Increased sweating elsewhere is not expected.
Does insurance cover it?
With medically justified hyperhidrosis, coverage is possible in individual cases. Clarify this with your insurer in advance.
Is it painful?
There are many small injections, usually described as well tolerable. Numbing cream can be used on request. Full page: Hyperhidrosis
Baby Botox.
Can I switch to a normal dose later?
Yes, any time. Dosing is not a one-way street. Full page: Baby Botox
Bruxism.
How do I know if I grind?
Morning jaw pain, sensitive teeth, headache at the temples or the dentist noting wear are typical signs.
Do I have to see a dentist first?
It makes sense, to check for dental damage and fit a guard. The botulinum toxin treatment can run in parallel. Full page: Bruxism
Bunny lines.
Why am I only noticing these lines now?
After a frown-line treatment, expression shifts – the nose 'takes over'. That is normal and easy to treat.
Does it change my nose?
No, only the movement of the skin on the bridge is dampened. Full page: Bunny lines
Units.
Why don't you tell me how many units I will get?
The dose is set after examination and stated in the consultation. It is individual, not a catalogue value.
Do more units last longer?
Slightly, but at the cost of natural expression. Durability is mainly determined by muscle and metabolism. Full page: Units
Glabella (frown lines).
Why do frown lines look so stern?
Because the muscles involved create the same expression as concentration or anger – the brain reads it automatically as mood.
Can the line be removed without Botox?
Expression lines not permanently; skin care and sun protection slow down the deepening. Full page: Glabella (frown lines)
Hyperhidrosis.
Isn't sweating healthy?
Yes – but hyperhidrosis is sweating without need that impairs daily life and work. Temperature regulation remains intact after treatment.
How do I know if it is secondary?
Sudden onset in adulthood, night-time or whole-body sweating are clues that should be clarified. Full page: Hyperhidrosis
Crow's feet.
Will my eyes look frozen?
No. Only the outer part of the muscle is treated; eyelid closure and smile remain.
What helps with crinkle lines at rest?
Skin boosters or polynucleotides for skin quality – botulinum toxin only acts on movement. Full page: Crow's feet
Masseter.
Can I still chew normally afterwards?
Yes. Only the maximum force is reduced; very chewy foods can be more tiring in the first weeks.
Does the face stay slimmer permanently?
The muscle shrinks as long as it is treated; without treatment it returns to its old size over months. Full page: Masseter
Expression lines.
Are expression lines treated with hyaluronic acid?
Usually not; hyaluronic acid is broken down quickly if the muscle keeps working. Botulinum toxin first, then volume if needed.
Do they disappear permanently?
No. Once the effect wears off, movement returns; regular treatment prevents deepening. Full page: Expression lines
Platysma.
Is it a lift?
No. The muscle's downward pull is dampened; skin is not tightened or removed.
Why 'off-label'?
There is no aesthetic licence for the neck; the use is permitted for physicians but requires specific consent. Full page: Platysma
Ptosis (drooping eyelid).
Will the lid stay like this forever?
No. Both forms resolve completely as the substance is broken down.
What to do if it happens?
Tell the practice. For lid ptosis eye drops can be prescribed; otherwise patience helps. Full page: Ptosis (drooping eyelid)
