What does sweat treatment cost?
A treatment that usually lasts the whole summer. What it costs, why it costs more than a wrinkle zone – and where it can be an insured service.

Hyperhidrosis treatment of the armpits in Essen: from €500 at VIVA DERM, billed under the GOÄ. Why the price is higher than for wrinkles
How the price is formed.
Why the price is higher: the armpits need considerably more units of botulinum toxin than a wrinkle zone – usually 50 to 100 units per side. In return the effect lasts longer, six to nine months. Most manage with one treatment a year, many only before summer.
How the price is formed: VIVA DERM is a private practice; every service is billed under the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ). The invoice lists codes for consultation, examination and injection plus the material costs – the product and the amount used. Flat rates or package prices are not permitted for medical services; hence all figures here are 'from' prices.
What the price includes: the medical examination and consent talk, the treatment itself by the physician, anaesthesia (numbing cream if needed), aftercare information and the check-up after about two weeks. Not included is additional material if more is needed along the way – that is discussed beforehand.
Why 'cheaper' is rarely cheaper: offers far below market level usually mean less product, unknown preparations or treatment without a physician. Discount campaigns and vouchers for medical treatments are impermissible under German advertising law. A reputable price names product and amount – and includes the check-up.
Insurance and tax: aesthetic treatments are self-pay services; neither statutory nor private insurers cover them. You receive a GOÄ invoice, payment by card or bank transfer. We deliberately do not offer instalments – a treatment should be affordable without debt.

Frequently asked questions.
Does health insurance cover the treatment?
With severe hyperhidrosis and unsuccessful prior treatment, botulinum toxin can be an insured service at statutory dermatology practices. VIVA DERM is a private practice and bills under the GOÄ.
What does treating the hands cost?
More than the armpits, because more units are needed and a nerve block is added. The amount is stated after examination.
