Chin augmentation with hyaluronic acid.
A receding or short chin makes the profile look softer and the neck shorter. With a firm hyaluronic acid the chin can be emphasised forwards or downwards – without surgery, in about 20 minutes, after a medical examination.

Chin augmentation with hyaluronic acid: receding or short chin, profile and neck transition – procedure, aftercare, risks and guide prices. Essen.
What is possible on the chin.
The chin helps define the profile: if it sits behind the line of nose and lips, the lips look fuller than wanted, the transition to the neck blurs, and a double chin appears more pronounced than it is.
With firm, structure-giving hyaluronic acid the chin can be emphasised forwards (projection), downwards (length) or in width. One to two millilitres are often enough; the amount follows anatomy and goal.
The chin is often considered together with the jawline, because both form the lower facial contour. With a restless chin muscle, botulinum toxin is an additional option. The examination decides what makes sense.

A good fit if …
- volume loss, contours or lines visible at rest
- a wish for a natural, reversible result
- healthy adults with realistic expectations
Rather not if …
- pregnancy or breastfeeding
- acute infection, cold sores or inflamed skin in the area
- known intolerance to hyaluronic acid products or certain autoimmune conditions
The final assessment is made in the medical examination.
How it works and aftercare.
Before: analysis of profile, chin, jawline and lips; consultation and information. Avoid blood thinners and alcohol beforehand where medically acceptable.
During: after disinfection and, if wanted, anaesthetic cream, the hyaluronic acid is usually placed deep on the bone with a needle or blunt cannula. Interim check sitting upright.
After: swelling and tenderness are normal for a few days. No sport, sauna or heat for 24 hours; don't sleep on the chin. Assessment after about two weeks.
Possible risks and contraindications.
Swelling, redness, tenderness and small bruises are common after treatment and usually settle within a few days. Less common are nodules, asymmetry or inflammation. Very rare but serious is a vascular occlusion – which is why anatomical knowledge, technique and medical emergency competence are decisive. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved again with the enzyme hyaluronidase if needed. The treatment is not suitable with acute infections in the area, known intolerances, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, among others. This information does not replace the medical consultation required by German law (§ 630e BGB).
Guide prices.
All prices are non-binding guide prices and include the consultation.
Invoicing follows the German scale of fees for physicians (GOÄ), based on findings and effort. Every treatment requires a medical examination, consultation and assessment of suitability.
Frequently asked questions.
Will it look 'done'?
The aim is a profile that suits the face. Small amounts, deep placement and a check-up after two weeks matter more than a lot of material.
How long does it last?
Firm materials on the bone usually last nine to eighteen months.
Does it help with a double chin?
Indirectly: an emphasised chin makes the transition to the neck look clearer. Fat under the chin is more likely treated with injection lipolysis.
Can it be reversed?
Yes, hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.
