Double chin – what really helps.
Slim, athletic – and still a double chin. That is not a matter of discipline but of anatomy. An overview of the options, from free to surgical.

Why a double chin often has nothing to do with being overweight (genetics, chin position, age), what weight loss and exercises achieve
Understand the cause first.
Four causes: (1) a genetically determined fat pad under the chin that remains even at normal weight. (2) A receding or small chin that blurs the neck-chin angle – here fat is not the problem at all. (3) Age-related slackening of skin and platysma muscle. (4) Being overweight. Often several act together; treatment depends on which dominates.
Weight loss and exercises: if overweight, weight reduction helps – but submental fat often responds last. 'Chin exercises' train muscles, not fat; their effect on a double chin is not proven. Posture (head up, phone higher) changes the look, not the anatomy.
Injection lipolysis (deoxycholic acid): dissolves fat cells in the treated area, which the body clears over weeks. Two to four sessions four to six weeks apart; afterwards marked swelling for one to two weeks. Sensible with a clearly defined fat pad, good skin elasticity and normal weight. Treated fat cells do not form anew – with stable weight the result lasts long. Not sensible with slack skin (it does not tighten) or excess weight.
Hyaluronic acid at the chin: with a receding chin, chin augmentation restores the angle and makes the 'double chin' disappear without removing a gram of fat. Often the more elegant solution – and visible immediately.
Botulinum toxin in the platysma: with neck bands and a downward-pulling muscle it improves the jaw contour ('Nefertiti lift'). It does not remove fat.
Liposuction and tightening: with large fat amounts or marked skin excess, surgical liposuction, possibly with tightening, is more effective than any injection. VIVA DERM refers for that. Honest advice sometimes means: 'the needle won't do that.'
The essentials.

Frequently asked questions.
How many lipolysis sessions do I need?
Usually two to three, with larger pads four. Each session builds on the previous one.
Does the fat come back?
Treated fat cells do not form anew. With marked weight gain, remaining cells can enlarge again though.
