Microneedling or PRP?
The honest answer is often 'both' – but not always. When the mechanical stimulus is enough, when the biological addition pays off.
Mechanical stimulus or biological stimulus: microneedling and PRP both stimulate collagen formation and are often combined.
Mechanical, biological, combined.
Microneedling creates thousands of micro-channels in the skin with fine needles. The controlled injury triggers a healing response: new collagen, better circulation, finer pores, flatter scars. Effective on its own – especially for acne scars, large pores and texture.
PRP delivers growth factors from your own blood. Injected or applied to the needled skin, it enhances the healing response and shortens redness. Injected alone it acts mainly on skin quality and hair growth.
The combination ('vampire facial') uses the needling channels to bring PRP deep into the skin. Studies show better results for acne scars and texture than needling alone. It is more expensive and takes longer because blood has to be drawn.
When which: texture, pores, mild scars, limited budget – microneedling alone. Hair – PRP alone. Acne scars, sun damage, faster recovery, wanting the maximum – combination. All variants need a series of three to six sessions.

Does microneedling hurt?
With numbing cream it is quite bearable; it feels like fine sanding. Afterwards the skin feels like after a sunburn.
Is PRP without needling worthwhile for the skin?
For skin quality yes, but the effect is subtler. For scars the combination is clearly more effective.
