Microneedling.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin with fine needles. The stimulus prompts the body's own repair processes – the method targets skin texture and scars, not volume. It can be combined with PRP from your own blood.

Microneedling in Essen: how the method works, combination with PRP, the procedure, aftercare, risks and guide prices. Carried out by the physician.
How the method works.
Fine needles create controlled micro-channels at a defined depth. The body answers this stimulus with its normal repair processes; growth factors are released and new collagen is formed. The effect is not immediate but develops over weeks.
Typical topics are skin texture, enlarged pores, fine lines and scars – for example after acne. Microneedling does not replace volume treatments or wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin; it works on skin quality.
On request the treatment can be combined with PRP (platelet-rich plasma): a small amount of blood is drawn, centrifuged, and the plasma-rich portion is applied to or introduced into the skin. How many sessions make sense depends on the findings and the goal.

The final assessment is made in the medical examination.
How it works and aftercare.
Before: medical examination of the skin, consultation and information about the procedure. Skin type, existing conditions, medication, a tendency to cold sores and sun exposure are discussed. A fresh tan or sunburn means the appointment is postponed.
During: after cleansing, anaesthetic cream is left to take effect. The skin is then treated systematically at a defined needle depth. If PRP is included, the blood sample is taken beforehand.
After: the skin is red and warm. No make-up, sport or sauna for the first 24 hours; in the following days gentle care and consistent sun protection – the single most important part of aftercare.
Course: the result develops over weeks; several sessions about four weeks apart are usual. Whether and how often to repeat is decided at a follow-up assessment.
Possible risks and contraindications.
Right after the treatment the skin is red and warm, similar to mild sunburn; this usually settles within one to two days. Swelling, a feeling of tightness, dryness and fine flaking are possible. Less common are infections, persistent redness, pigment changes – especially in darker skin types and without consistent sun protection – and reactivation of cold sores. The treatment is not suitable with active skin infections or inflammatory acne in the area, impaired wound healing, a tendency to keloid scars, certain skin conditions, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, among others; ongoing or recent isotretinoin therapy must be discussed beforehand. If PRP is used as well, a blood sample is taken – with the possibility of a bruise or a circulatory reaction; PRP is not suitable with coagulation disorders or certain blood conditions. This information does not replace the medical consultation required by German law (§ 630e BGB).

Frequently asked questions.
How many sessions are needed?
It depends on the findings. Three to four sessions about four weeks apart are usual, followed by a fresh medical assessment.
Does microneedling hurt?
Anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand. Most people describe a scratching or vibrating sensation that is easy to tolerate.
When can I wear make-up again?
Usually after 24 hours, provided the skin is not open or strongly irritated. Sun protection takes priority in the days that follow.
What does combining it with PRP add?
PRP uses components from your own blood. Whether the combination makes sense in your case is discussed after examination; a guaranteed effect cannot be promised.
Who should not have this treatment?
Among others people with active skin infections, inflammatory acne in the area, impaired wound healing, a tendency to keloid scars, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
