Mesotherapy in the lexicon: origin, active substances, difference to skin boosters and PRP, evidence
A closer look.
Mesotherapy was developed in France in the 1950s and describes introducing small amounts of active substances into the mid-layer of the skin (mesoderm) through many fine injections. In aesthetics, cocktails of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids and minerals are used to 'revitalise' the skin.
The method is the forerunner of modern skin boosters. The difference: skin boosters are standardised hyaluronic acid gels licensed as medical devices with proven effect on hydration and elasticity; meso cocktails are often mixed individually and their composition and evidence are inconsistent.
For this reason this practice relies on skin boosters, polynucleotides and PRP with defined products. Anyone looking for mesotherapy finds the same goal in these procedures – better skin quality – with better-documented safety.
