Beauty devices for home use.
The market for home devices is booming. Some are useful, some harmless, one is risky. An assessment without a sales interest.

Red-light masks, dermarollers, microcurrent devices and gua sha promise practice results at home. What the evidence shows, what is safe
Device by device.
LED masks (red and near-infrared light): the physics is plausible – light of certain wavelengths (630–850 nm) stimulates mitochondria in skin cells. Studies show small improvements in skin texture, fine lines and wound healing, and with blue light in mild acne. Prerequisite: sufficient power and regular use (10–20 minutes, several times a week, over months). Many cheap devices are too weak. Safe if the eyes are protected. Benefit: real but small.
Dermaroller / home needling: short needles (0.2–0.3 mm) improve absorption of active ingredients and give a mild glow. Longer needles (0.5 mm and more) do not belong in lay hands: infections, scars, pigment disorders and skin germs spread by reused rollers are well documented. Medical microneedling in the practice works sterile, with single-use cartridges and adapted depth – it is not the same procedure.
Microcurrent devices: weak current is meant to 'train' facial muscles. A short-term lifting effect through swelling and circulation is possible; long-term evidence is lacking. Harmless, but even with daily use no replacement for volume or muscle relaxation.
Gua sha, face rollers, face yoga: lymphatic drainage and relaxation – pleasant, morning puffiness decreases. They do not change wrinkles or volume; facial exercises can even deepen expression lines.
Home IPL, home radiofrequency, home ultrasound: deliberately set weak to be safe – accordingly small is the effect. With pigment spots and rosacea better keep away.
Conclusion: a good LED mask is a sensible supplement. Everything else is wellness or risk. What home devices cannot do: replace volume, relax muscles, reach the dermis – that is what the practice is for.

Frequently asked questions.
Which LED mask is good?
One that states wavelengths (red ~630 nm, near-infrared ~830 nm) and irradiance; medical-device certification is a plus. Price alone says little.
Can I use LED after microneedling or fillers?
After microneedling yes, even helpful for healing. After fillers light is unproblematic; heat and pressure should be avoided in the first week.
