Jowls.
The area where aesthetic medicine must name its limits most honestly. What can be achieved with injections – and what cannot.

Jowls arise when cheek fat descends and the jawline blurs. What hyaluronic acid at cheek and jawline does, what lipolysis and platysma Botox achieve
What is behind it.
What is behind it: cheek fat descends over the years and collects beside the chin, below the jawline. At the same time cheekbone and chin lose support, the retaining ligaments stretch, the skin becomes slacker. The result: a jawline that is no longer straight but interrupted by the 'jowl'.
What injections can do: for mild to moderate jowls a combination helps – volume at the cheekbone lifts indirectly; hyaluronic acid along the jawline in front of and behind the jowl visually 'straightens' the line; injection lipolysis reduces a small fat deposit in the jowl itself; botulinum toxin into the platysma removes the downward pull. Correctly combined, that gives a clearly visible, natural improvement.
What they cannot do: with marked skin excess and deeply hanging jowls every injection only adds more – the face becomes heavier, not younger. Here a surgical lift is the honest and ultimately cheaper answer. This limit is named clearly in the consultation.
Timeline: lipolysis first (several sessions), then after swelling subsides hyaluronic acid at cheekbone and jawline, plus platysma. Result assessable after three to four months.
Is this for me?
A treatment can make sense if …
- the jawline is mildly to moderately interrupted
- the skin still has good elasticity
- cheeks or chin have lost volume
- you are looking for an improvement, not a transformation
Rather not suitable if …
- the skin excess is marked (lift more sensible)
- you already have a lot of filler in the cheeks
- you expect a completely straight jawline
- you are currently losing or gaining a lot of weight
These notes replace no examination. Whether and which treatment is an option is clarified in the consultation under § 630e BGB – sometimes the answer is: none.

Frequently asked questions.
Doesn't hyaluronic acid make the jowls heavier?
Into the jowls themselves yes – which is why it is placed beside and above, never inside.
What does the combination cost?
Depending on the building blocks about 600 to 1,200 euros over several sessions; the cost plan is drawn up in writing beforehand.
