The face after losing weight.
The body is slimmer, the face looks tired. The so-called 'Ozempic face' is not a side effect of a drug but the physics of facial fat.

After major weight loss – by diet, weight-loss injection or surgery – the face often looks older: hollow cheeks, jowls, slack skin.
Why the face loses first.
What happens: facial fat lies in small compartments that shrink with weight loss like all others. Unlike the belly, there is hardly any reserve here – even five to ten kilos less visibly take volume from cheek, temple and eye area. The skin that was stretched over more fat now lies loose: nasolabial fold, jowls and neck become more pronounced. The faster the loss and the older the skin, the more marked.
Weight-loss injections (GLP-1 analogues): semaglutide & co. do not cause this directly – but they lead to rapid, major weight loss in which the face loses too. The effect is the same as with any crash diet or after bariatric surgery.
Wait first: as long as weight is still dropping, building volume makes little sense – the picture keeps changing. Treatment makes sense once weight has been stable for three to six months. In that time the skin partly recovers on its own, especially in younger patients.
What helps: hyaluronic acid at the support points (cheek, temple, chin, jawline) gives the face its scaffold back – small amounts are often enough because the structure is still there. Skin boosters and polynucleotides improve skin quality and elasticity. Botulinum toxin in the platysma can soften a neck that pulls downward. With major skin excess, a surgical lift is the more honest answer than fillers.
Preventing it while losing weight: lose slowly (0.5–1 kg a week), enough protein (collagen formation), strength training, sun protection, don't smoke. The face forgives speed less than the body.
Honestly: part of the 'older' impression is habituation. Anyone who has seen themselves with a round face for ten years finds the narrower one strange at first. Photos from before the weight gain help with perspective – sometimes no treatment is needed at all.
The essentials.

Frequently asked questions.
Can I have fillers while still losing weight?
Possible but not advisable – the result changes with further loss. Better wait until the target weight is reached.
Does the volume come back if I regain weight?
Partly. Facial fat follows body weight; the skin, however, recovers only to a limited extent. Yo-yo effects burden the skin particularly.
