The right timeline before the big day.

Wedding, anniversary, photo shoot: the most common question is 'when?'. Too early and the effect fades, too late and bruises still show. A plan that avoids both mistakes.

In short

When should a treatment take place before an important date? Timeline for botulinum toxin, fillers, skin boosters and microneedling

Planning

Count backwards from the date.

Basic rule: never have the first treatment of any procedure right before an event. If you are trying something for the first time, allow three to four months – time for assessment, touch-up and, if you don't like it, for it to fade.

Botulinum toxin – 3 to 4 weeks before. Fully effective after two weeks; the check with possible fine-tuning is in week two to three. Four weeks before is ideal, leaving a buffer. Not later than 14 days before.

Hyaluronic acid fillers – 4 to 6 weeks before. Swelling subsides within a week, bruising in up to 14 days, the gel integrates in two to four weeks. Lips need the most time. A touch-up is possible after two weeks – so plan six weeks overall.

Skin boosters and polynucleotides – start 3 months before. The course consists of two to three sessions four weeks apart; the skin effect builds slowly. Last session at least three weeks before the date.

Microneedling and PRP – last session 3 to 4 weeks before. Redness lasts two to three days, the result matures over weeks. Series of three sessions: start four months before.

What is still possible in the last week: nothing injectable. Sunscreen, sleep, no new skincare products, no alcohol the night before. And a realistic view: an event is no reason to treat more than usual – on days with many photos, 'too much' is what shows most.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Can I have everything in one session?

Botulinum toxin and fillers often yes. Before an event, the order botulinum toxin first, fillers two weeks later makes more sense – the result can be assessed better.

What if a bruise is still visible on the day?

It can be covered with concealer; arnica gel and cooling do not speed up resolution much but do no harm. Hence: plan early enough.
