A practice without statutory-insurance accreditation: treatments for privately insured and self-paying patients, invoiced per GOÄ. Aesthetic treatments are not covered by statutory insurance anyway.

## A closer look.

A private practice has no contract with the statutory health insurers. It treats privately insured patients, civil-servant beneficiaries and statutorily insured patients as self-payers. Invoicing follows the GOÄ and the invoice goes directly to the patient.

For aesthetic medicine little changes: wrinkle treatment, filler or skin boosters are in principle not statutory-insurance services regardless of practice type. For medical indications such as hyperhidrosis, bruxism or chronic migraine, private insurance may reimburse; an enquiry beforehand makes sense.

The practical difference lies in the process: appointments are planned by time needed, not by case flat rates. That allows longer consultations and short waiting times. Prescription medicines such as botulinum toxin are obtained on private prescription.
