Building blocks derived from salmon DNA, injected to support skin regeneration. For skin quality, the eye area and weakened skin; usually several sessions.

## A closer look.

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments obtained from salmon or trout germ cells. They are well tolerated by the human body because DNA building blocks hardly differ between species. Injected into the skin they are meant to stimulate fibroblasts, bind moisture and dampen inflammatory processes.

They are used mainly where the skin is thin or weakened: the eye area, the neck, after sun damage or with acne scars. Unlike skin boosters they provide almost no hydration through water binding but rely on regeneration; that is why the two are sometimes combined. Three sessions two to four weeks apart are usual.

The evidence is younger and thinner than for hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin; smaller studies show improvements in elasticity and skin texture, large comparative studies are lacking. Side effects match those of other injections; with fish allergy a consultation is needed.

## At a glance.

- **Origin:** salmon DNA, purified
- **Area:** eyes, neck, face
- **Sessions:** usually 3
- **Price:** from €250 per session

## Frequently asked questions.

**Is it the same as a skin booster?**

No. Skin boosters bind water (hyaluronic acid); polynucleotides are meant to stimulate cell regeneration. Both target skin quality.

**Can I have it with a fish allergy?**

Please mention it beforehand. The products are highly purified, but the decision is made case by case.
