There is no number. What matters is not the year of birth but whether an expression line is visible at rest – and whether treatment is medically justifiable.

## When it starts to make sense.

**Legally:** botulinum toxin for wrinkle treatment is licensed for adults from 18; minors are not treated. There is no upper age limit – health and expectations decide.

**The real yardstick:** does a line stay visible when the face is relaxed? Then the skin has begun to 'imprint' the movement. That is the point where treatment can stop expression lines from getting deeper. For many people this is between the late twenties and mid-thirties – for some earlier, for some never.

**'Prevention' and 'baby Botox'** mean low doses at a young age, before lines exist at rest. That can make sense with very strong facial movement (a deep frown when concentrating). It does not make sense without a recognisable reason – a smooth forehead at 22 needs no botulinum toxin. Saying so is part of the consultation.

**At 50, 60, 70:** botulinum toxin still works on expression lines. With pronounced volume loss and skin laxity, though, it is often only one building block; hyaluronic acid, skin boosters or skin-quality treatments may matter more. The examination shows what comes first.

**Treatment is advised against** with certain neuromuscular conditions, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with infections in the area, and when expectations don't match what the treatment can deliver.

## The essentials.

- **Licence:** from 18 years
- **Yardstick:** line visible at rest?
- **Upper limit:** none
- **Prevention:** only with a reason

## Important note.

This text is general information. It replaces neither a medical examination nor the consultation required before any treatment under German law (§ 630e BGB). Whether and which treatment is suitable for you can only be said after examination and consultation. No treatment results are promised.

## Frequently asked questions.

**Is 25 too early to start?**

If no line is visible at rest, usually yes. If a strong frown line stays when concentrating, a low dose can be justifiable. This is discussed honestly.

**Does the skin become dependent?**

No. There is no physical dependence. If you stop, facial movement returns and the lines look as they would without treatment – not worse.

**Is it still worth it at 65?**

For expression lines, yes. Often a combination with volume or skin-quality treatments then makes more sense than botulinum toxin alone.

**Are minors treated?**

No.
