The horizontal forehead lines come from raising the eyebrows. Botulinum toxin softens that movement in a targeted way, so the forehead looks smoother without losing your expression.

## How the line forms.

Forehead lines run horizontally and are created by the **frontalis muscle**, which lifts the eyebrows. Over the years the lines stay visible at rest too.

In the treatment, botulinum toxin type A is injected into a few points of the forehead muscle. A **restrained dose** is decisive: this muscle lifts the brow, and damping it too much can make the gaze look heavy. That is why the forehead is almost always assessed together with the frown lines.

The effect starts after a few days, is complete after about two weeks and typically lasts **3 to 6 months**.

**A good fit if …**
- expression lines that remain visible at rest (frown lines, forehead, crow's feet)
- healthy adults from 18 with realistic expectations
- medical reasons such as teeth grinding, heavy sweating or chronic migraine – after diagnosis

**Rather not if …**
- pregnancy or breastfeeding
- certain neuromuscular conditions or an infection in the treatment area
- a wish for volume or smoothing of deep static lines – hyaluronic acid is the better fit

The final assessment is made in the medical examination.

## How it works.

**1. Assessing the movement.** We look at how strongly the muscle works and how the zones interact – that determines the dose.

**2. Injection.** A few points are treated with a very fine needle. It takes only a few minutes and anaesthesia is usually not needed.

**3. Afterwards.** Don't lie down for 3–4 hours; no sport, sauna, swimming pool or intensive facial massage on the day.

**4. Review.** The result is complete after about two weeks and can be fine-tuned then if needed.

## What you should know.

Redness, swelling, tenderness or small bruises at the injection sites are possible, as are temporary headaches. Rarely, neighbouring muscles can be temporarily weakened – a drooping eyelid, for example – which resolves as the substance is broken down. The treatment is not suitable with certain neuromuscular conditions, infections in the treatment area, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, among others. Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine and is only used by a physician after examination and assessment of the indication. ## Frequently asked questions.

**Will my forehead look unnatural?**

Not if the dose matches your muscle. The aim is softer movement, not complete stillness.

**Why treat the frown lines as well?**

The forehead muscle and the frown muscles work against each other. Treating only the forehead can make the gaze look sterner. What makes sense is decided in the consultation.

**How long does it last?**

Typically 3 to 6 months, depending on dose, muscle strength and metabolism.

**When will I see the result?**
